The joint exhibition runs from August 16 to September 20\, 2025 and offers a comprehensive insight into the multifaceted work of the painter from Ochtrup. Under the title “Clemens Wieschebrink – Cooperation exhibition on the occasion of his 125th birthday”\, both galleries are showing a carefully coordinated selection of key works from various phases of the artist’s career. It becomes clear how Wieschebrink’s work fluctuated stylistically between figuration and abstraction – always with people at the center. \nA life for art \nBorn on August 15\, 1900 in Münster\, Wieschebrink spent his formative artistic years in Wuppertal\, Hamburg\, Munich and Paris. As a student of Karl Hofer at the Vereinigte Staatsschulen in Berlin (1927-1932)\, he developed his characteristic style: a combination of clear contours\, a broken color palette and an increasingly abstract view of people. He grew up as the son of the ophthalmologist Heinrich Wieschebrink and his wife Amalie Wieschebrink. His mother was born Laurenz and\, as co-partner of Textilwerke Laurenz in Ochtrup\, she was able to support her son financially as he took his first steps into the art world and also enabled him to travel. \nTwo places – one homage \nThe two participating galleries have different focuses: While Georg’s gallery in Gronau-Epe presents late works from the mid-1940s to the mid-1950s\, Galerie Kappmeier in Ahaus is dedicated to the artist’s entire creative period. Trainees from the hospital’s nursing school had developed a so-called “room of error” in advance – a scenario in which typical errors at the patient’s bedside are made visible. In this practical training room\, the participants had to recognize\, among other things\, if the patient was lying too low in bed\, if there were air bubbles in the infusion\, if the bed was not secured or if disinfectant was missing. A total of 17 potential sources of error were hidden in the scenario\, which must be avoided in day-to-day care. \nOn September 20\, visitors can experience the “Room of Error” live at the Gronau town festival in the pedestrian zone and go in search of errors themselves. St. Antonius-Hospital will have a stand there to provide information about typical sources of error\, patient safety and the importance of careful care. However\, our exhibition is also highly recommended for doctors\, nursing staff and the like. \nThe basis for this is the extensive collection of exhibits\, consisting of preserved human bodies\, organs and moulages. In addition to the exhibits\, detailed explanations\, multimedia presentations and educational panels on general and specific topics relating to the human body serve to impart knowledge.\nThe exhibition “The human body – learning from the dead” offers pupils and teachers a comprehensive educational program.
