DESCRIPTION:Children of primary school age with their grandparents visit a huge green oasis in the middle of an industrial area with lots of insects\, creepy-crawlies and the like. \nWith a beekeeper\, you will learn how the bee colony produces honey in a perfect division of labor. We investigate how they pollinate flowers and sow bee-friendly flowers for the home. There will be a honey tasting during a short picnic break. In the garden there is a pond with dragonflies and water fleas\, as well as insect hotels and compost beds with lots of small creepy-crawlies\, which we examine with a magnifying glass and microscope and build an insect nest for them.    \nChildren of primary school age with their grandparents/parents. Please bring a magnifying glass\, cup magnifier\, tweezers\, a collection box (if available) and a rucksack.

DESCRIPTION:Das Projekt Haus Lebenstein lädt wieder zur Plauderstunde ein. Die Veranstaltung findet von 15 bis 17 Uhr in Georgs Galerie (Merschstraße 21) statt. \nDie Plauderstunden haben sich als offenes Begegnungsformat etabliert\, bei dem Interessierte in lockerer Atmosphäre zusammenkommen\, um sich über das entstehende Haus Lebenstein auszutauschen. Das Projekt entwickelt sich in der ehemaligen Synagoge in Epe zu einem „Dritten Ort“ – einem lebendigen Zentrum für Kultur\, Erinnerung und gesellschaftlichen Austausch. \nIm Mittelpunkt steht auch diesmal der aktuelle Baufortschritt: Welche Arbeiten sind bereits abgeschlossen\, welche nächsten Schritte stehen an und wie nimmt das Haus Lebenstein zunehmend Gestalt an? Die Organisatoren geben Einblicke in den aktuellen Stand und beantworten Fragen rund um die Entwicklung des Projekts. Darüber hinaus möchten sie mit den Gästen über neue Ideen für zukünftige Begegnungsformate ins Gespräch kommen – von kulturellen Angeboten bis hin zu offenen Mitmachformaten. \nEin besonderer Akzent wird durch die musikalische Begleitung gesetzt:\nAls Gastmusiker wird Friso Wyckelsma erwartet. Der Gronauer Student\, der auch als Organist in der ev. Stadtkirche aktiv ist\, widmet sich mit großer Leidenschaft Film- und Musicalmelodien\, die er am Sonntag auf dem Flügel präsentieren wird. \nDie Plauderstunde ist offen für alle Interessierten. He explains: Many\, many years ago\, the animals fought over who was allowed to hide the eggs at Easter. The mole buried the eggs in the ground so that no child could find them. The cat rolled the eggs around the yard all day and the pig took them into the mud. Only the rabbit could do anything sensible.     \nAnd where do the colorful eggs come from? Are they laid by colorful hens? Or are they eggs laid by colorful parrots? What does the Easter bunny do in summer? DESCRIPTION:Night insights 2026 Gronau and Epe shine in a cultural light\n\nCultural events at twelve venues meet impressive light installations and color stagings: these are the cornerstones of “Nachteinblicke”\, which will be held for the sixth time on March 7 by Kulturbüro Gronau GmbH. The event is presented by Stadtwerke Gronau. As in previous editions\, thousands of visitors will once again experience an atmospheric spectacle of color and culture in 2026\, involving a large number of local and regional artists. And the best thing about it: admission is free!   \n\nMany visitors are always impressed by the special atmosphere created by the interplay of light\, space\, music and culture. At twelve different locations in Gronau and Epe\, local artists and choirs in particular present an exciting mix of their work. From male choirs and magicians to improvisational theater – the range of artists involved in the Night Insights is wide\, with a total of 36 artists and artist groups taking part.  \n\nInselpark Seemingly familiar things appear in a completely new light in the dark of night when the spectacular light and color productions create an atmospheric and sometimes even mystical atmosphere. A very special highlight is the Stadtwerke Silent Disco at the Waldbühne\, where visitors can dance to music transmitted via wireless headphones. Instead of loud speakers\, there is a shared but individual listening experience. Headphones can be borrowed for a fee of €2.50\, and for Stadtwerke customers\, borrowing is free as part of the Vorteilswelt (formerly PlusService Card).  \n\nFor the younger visitors\, there will be hands-on activities such as a children’s rally and craft activities\, and the Stadtwerke outdoor area in the Inselpark invites you to linger with chilled DJ music and a range of food and drink.\n\nDiscover “Gronau and Epe” in the light\nDuring the Night Insights\, city guides will also be out and about in both districts\, showing the city in a special light and from a different perspective. In this way\, participants can discover and experience the town with new eyes. The tours start at 20:00 and participation is based on the “pay what you want” principle.\nThe “Kulturhäppchen” are available at these locations:  \n\nGronau: Musikclub Turbine\, Café Backstage\, Evang. Under the motto “Save Rat Rieke”\, Marvin Dolansky invites you to an exciting and highly topical hands-on activity. At the center of the interactive experience is Rieke the rat\, who has been washed into the library through the sewers and urgently needs help. Under the direction of Marvin Dolansky\, the participants not only become attentive listeners\, but also active rescuers. With the help of the Biparcours app – an interactive rally that works via digital devices and real-life puzzles – the children have to solve various tasks in order to locate and ultimately rescue Rieke. The “Biparcours” promises an exciting mix of games\, knowledge and digital scavenger hunt. The event is primarily aimed at children of primary school age (approx. 6 to 10 years)\, but is suitable for all curious young explorers. The Gronau public library is looking forward to working with the young sleuths to rescue Rieke from her predicament.        \nThe Biparcours app is a digital learning tool from Bildungspartner NRW. The application can be used by schools and extracurricular places of learning such as libraries\, but also by partners in North Rhine-Westphalia.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, 18.01.2026\, the beginning of the year will be celebrated with the Kreuz&Quer Theater from Duisburg. The play “Schneewitte und der letzte Fruchtzwerg” will turn the public library upside down.  \nThis play will be performed at 4 pm and is for children aged 4 and over. Admission costs 3 euros per person.  \n  \nA play about having to go to bed and not wanting to. Grimm prefers to go to bed early\, read a bit more in his fairy tale book and then go to sleep\, because sleep before midnight is the healthiest!  \nBut he can’t\, because there’s Gebrr – and Gebrr once again doesn’t want to go to bed\, isn’t tired\, is hungry\, is afraid to be alone in bed and finds one excuse after another to avoid having to sleep. \nAlthough Grimm is sooo tired\, he has to read Gebrr a fairy tale again\, the fairy tale of Snow White. \nAnd as it happens with these two\, they are soon in the middle of the story. Snow White\, the wicked stepmother\, the huntsman\, the seven dwarfs and the prince are romping around in their beds – and sleep is out of the question.  \nAt the end there is the obligatory kiss and Gebrr finally falls asleep\, only Grimm lies wide awake in bed.

DESCRIPTION:The Ezidi community in Gronau would like to celebrate their religious festival “Cejna Ezid” together this year on 19.12.2025. “Cejna Ezid” is celebrated by the Ezidis as a large communal festival\, similar to Christmas for Christians.  \nThe actual “Cejna Ezid” festival is preceded by a period of fasting. After this fasting period\, a big celebration with lots of delicacies\, music and dancing is held with families and friends. It is important to the Yezidis to share their openness with everyone around them\, regardless of their denomination\, and to give them an insight into their culture. The focus here is also on a contemplative atmosphere and being together as a community. As it is customary for families to visit each other on this festive day\, we want to offer all families the opportunity to have a designated place where they can meet and celebrate together.     \nThrough other festivals celebrated together in the past\, we have found that coming together is an important concern for families.

DESCRIPTION:The rock’n’popmuseum invites you to a very special experience during the fall vacations: From October 20 to 22\, 2025\, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, the “Beats & Vibes” workshop is all about making music\, trying it out and dancing the night away! The workshop takes place in cooperation with Dagesh! and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s “Kultur macht stark” program.  \nProduce music and be a DJ yourself \nUnder the professional guidance of two DJs from Berlin\, the young people not only immerse themselves in the world of DJ technology – they also produce their own sounds! Each participant is given an iPad on which they can mix and experiment individually. Step by step\, they will create their own personal tracks and music sets.  \nProgram highlights \n\nA cultural look at DJing – the two artists share aspects of their personal biographies and reveal how diverse the music scene is; they also talk about their performances and their experiences in the Berlin club scene\n\n\nFirst steps in DJ technology – quick and easy introduction\nBuild and mix your own beats – be creative with professional tools\nLearning set design – how to put music together in an exciting and varied way\nDiscover new things together – listen to music\, play\, exchange ideas\n\n  \nThe grand finale takes place on Wednesday afternoon at the Turbine music club: the young people present their own tracks – and dance together to the beats they have produced themselves. DESCRIPTION:After taking a wrong turn in the sewer\, Rieke the rat finds herself in the toilet of the public library. Before she even knows where she is\, she is captured. As reading is not one of her favorite pastimes\, she doesn’t really feel at home in the library.   \nThis is where anyone who wants to help Rieke solve some reading puzzles comes in. \nUsing the Biparcours app\, the children move through various locations in the library and help Rieke to track down her kidnapper and help her to freedom. This is a fun way to learn how the library works and how to find your way around.  \nTablets are made available to the participants. \nThe Biparcours app is a digital learning tool from Bildungspartner NRW. \nThe application can be used by schools and extracurricular places of learning such as libraries\, but also by partners in North Rhine-Westphalia. \nFurther dates can be arranged for school classes by prior arrangement.

The traditional handmade market will also take place again and other highlights await you at the country and pumpkin festival in Epe.  \nAnd: It’s also open for business\, the stores have great offers for you. It will be a party for the whole family!  \nTogether with the Volksbank Gronau-Ahaus and the Eper Werbegemeinschaft\, we are looking forward to the September weekend in the town center. \nBy the way: the anniversary of the Musikverein Epe will conclude the evening before\, on Saturday evening. Look forward to the grand finale and the benefit concert of the Musikverein Epe\, together with many other performers.  \n  \nWatch out: Due to the run-off election\, Gronauer Straße will not be closed this year! The traditional flea market will take place this year on Amtsweg (around Sport Engstfeld).   \nReservations are not possible\, registrations are not necessary. Interested parties can simply set up on September 28 from 8 am. A contact person in a red vest will be on site from the city marketing department and will allocate places.

DESCRIPTION:The Gronau mascot Türmchen turns two years old \n– City marketing celebrates the birthday with a special campaign \nOn September 20\, 2025\, “Türmchen”\, Gronau’s mascot\, will be two years old. According to the town marketing department\, this occasion will be celebrated as part of the town festival in Gronau’s town center. On this day\, visitors will have the opportunity to meet Türmchen in person and wish him a happy birthday.   \nTürmchen is visually based on the historic water tower in Gronau and has been popular with children and adults alike since its launch. To celebrate its second birthday\, the town has come up with a special highlight: An exclusive visit to Türmchen at a children’s birthday party will be raffled off in a competition.  \n“With this campaign\, we not only want to celebrate Türmchen\, but also actively involve children and create a special experience\,” emphasizes Lena Kerkeling from the Gronau city marketing team. “Türmchen now has such a large fan base that we want to give something back\,” she continues.  \nChildren can take part by drawing a picture on the theme of “Türmchen” and explaining in a few sentences why the mascot should stop by on their birthday of all days. The closing date for entries is September 17\, 2025 and pictures can be submitted directly to the Gronau Tourist Information Office (Konrad-Adenauer-Straße 45) or sent in by post.   \nTürmchen will visit the winning birthday party in person\, greet the children and bring a Türmchen stuffed animal for all the guests to cuddle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Blue-Bot: Robotics with the iPad for young researchers on 10.09.25 \nLearn through play and develop your own strategies: \nFor primary school children from the age of 8\, strategic (pre-)thinking with the Blue Bots is clear\, easy to implement and crowned with success in just a few programming steps. \nThe Blue-Bots train an initial understanding of problem-oriented thinking and promote logical thinking on the basis of simple functions of programmable hardware. \nThe aim is to use simple software on a tablet to move the small robots along a given course\, such as a maze or one of the colorful and varied Blue Bot mats. \nYoung programmers can try out how children and bots come together in the library’s RoboLab. \n

DESCRIPTION:iPad rally: Save Rieke the rat – explore the city library with the Biparcours app on 04.09.25 \nAfter taking a wrong turn in the sewer\, Rieke the rat finds herself in the toilet of the public library. Before she even knows where she is\, she is captured. As reading is not one of her favorite pastimes\, she doesn’t really feel at home in the library.   \nThis is where anyone who wants to help Rieke solve some reading puzzles comes in. \nUsing the Biparcours app\, the children move through various locations in the library and help Rieke to track down her kidnapper and help her to freedom. This is a fun way to learn how the library works and how to find your way around.  \nTablets are made available to the participants. \nThe Biparcours app is a digital learning tool from Bildungspartner NRW. \nThe application can be used by schools and extracurricular places of learning such as libraries\, but also by partners in North Rhine-Westphalia.
