The 93-year-old only survived the war because more than a dozen families took him and his mother in and hid them. His brother and nephew fled the Netherlands as young Jewish men during the occupation and went to Great Britain via France to join the Allies. \nOn this evening\, Bert Woudstra tells part of his family history. He reads from \nthe book \,\,Een familiekroniek over verzet tegen het fascisme 1942 – 1945″ (“A family chronicle about the resistance against fascism”)\, to which he contributed as a \ncontributed as co-author. \nBert Woudstra\, born in Enschede in 1932 to Jewish parents\, is a contemporary witness to the \nGerman occupation in the Netherlands during the Nazi era.
