The event is presented by Stadtwerke Gronau. As in previous editions\, thousands of visitors will once again experience an atmospheric spectacle of color and culture in 2026\, involving a large number of local and regional artists. And the best thing about it: admission is free! \n\nMany visitors are always impressed by the special atmosphere created by the interplay of light\, space\, music and culture. At twelve different locations in Gronau and Epe\, local artists and choirs in particular present an exciting mix of their work. From male choirs and magicians to improvisational theater – the range of artists involved in the Night Insights is wide\, with a total of 36 artists and artist groups taking part. \n\nInselpark Seemingly familiar things appear in a completely new light in the dark of night when the spectacular light and color productions create an atmospheric and sometimes even mystical atmosphere. A very special highlight is the Stadtwerke Silent Disco at the Waldbühne\, where visitors can dance to music transmitted via wireless headphones. Instead of loud speakers\, there is a shared but individual listening experience. But especially today\, when all information is just a click away\, personal encounters are more valuable than ever – especially during such a drastic experience as childbirth. \nOn Sunday\, March 1\, 2026\, the Gronau Family Education Center\, in cooperation with St. Antonius Hospital Gronau\, the Social Service of Catholic Women Ahaus-Vreden and Diakonie West\, invites you to the 25th Birth Information Day. Expectant parents can get to know the people they will come into contact with in connection with the birth: Midwives\, doctors\, but also advisors from social institutions where benefits such as parental allowance or child benefit can be applied for after the birth. The event lasts from 14:30 to 17:30. This or something similar can be heard from every nook and cranny.\nAnd the times are bad\, no question\, but have they ever really been better? Isn’t it more a case of the whole mess repeating itself over and over again? \nIn faster circles perhaps\, but basically always the same? And do we perhaps simply lack the broad perspective to recognize these constantly swirling messes and circles as such and then perhaps finally change their trajectory or even interrupt their gyrations? This is where literature can often help\, and even more often music. \nIn our particular case\, Kurt Tucholsky’s thoughts on the course of time and melodies\, which Robert Stadlober has captured from the Chaos Gekreisel and superimposed over Tucholsky’s reflections\, which are already over a hundred years old. It is about the impossibilities of human interaction. In matters of love as in matters of hate\, about the senselessness of violence and the hopelessness of politics that seeks to communicate itself through violence. The occasion is the 70th anniversary of the German-Italian Recruitment Agreement\, which celebrates its 70th anniversary on December 20 this year. \n\n\nWhen Federal Labor Minister Anton Storch (CDU) from Adenauer’s cabinet signed the agreement in 1955\, the then Federal Republic of Germany sealed its first bilateral treaty of this kind. Following its example\, further agreements followed with other countries such as Spain\, Greece\, Portugal and Turkey. \nThe German-Italian Treaty made it possible for German companies to legally employ workers from Italy. As a result\, people from this country came to Germany to work in numerous sectors. \nSince the 1950s\, a total of almost four million Italian citizens have immigrated to Germany. Not all of them stayed permanently. \nWhat motivated people to come to Germany over the decades? \nHow did and do the immigrants live here? \nHow did they integrate? \nWhat is the relationship to the country of origin\, the native language and culture? \nWhy do people go back\, why do others stay in Germany? \nThe lecture will examine these questions and shed light on the background to the recruitment agreement signed 70 years ago. \nThere will be an opportunity for questions and discussion after the presentation. \nThe speaker is Dr. Alessandro Bellardita\, Chairman of the German-Italian Society Karlsruhe and himself the son of a Sicilian family who came to Germany in the early 1980s. The entrance area of the hospital is illuminated in orange\, making the importance of the topic visible to all visitors. Information material is also available. Trainees from the hospital’s nursing school had developed a so-called “room of error” in advance – a scenario in which typical errors at the patient’s bedside are made visible. In this practical training room\, the participants had to recognize\, among other things\, if the patient was lying too low in bed\, if there were air bubbles in the infusion\, if the bed was not secured or if disinfectant was missing. A total of 17 potential sources of error were hidden in the scenario\, which must be avoided in day-to-day care. \nOn September 20\, visitors can experience the “Room of Error” live at the Gronau town festival in the pedestrian zone and go in search of errors themselves. St. Antonius-Hospital will have a stand there to provide information about typical sources of error\, patient safety and the importance of careful care.
