On March 18 at 7 p.m., a lecture on the topic “Re-wetting the H\u00fcndfelder Moor\u2014a biodiversity and climate protection project in the Borken district” will take place at the Gronau Public Library. <\/p>\n
According to climate researchers\u2019 forecasts, weather anomalies will become even more pronounced in the future than they are today, and this will also have an impact on the protected areas in the Borken district. For conservation measures aimed at preserving biodiversity to be successful, the primary focus in the future must be on retaining more water in the landscape. <\/p>\n
A flagship project serving as a model for the rewetting of a peatland area is currently underway in the H\u00fcndfelder Moor in the northern part of the Borken district, on the German-Dutch border. The presentation will outline the various measures being taken, which could serve as a model for other peatland areas as well. <\/p>\n
The lecture is “box-free” and is being held in collaboration with VHS Gronau.
