On April 23, 2026, it\u2019s that time of year again: To mark UNESCO World Book Day, bookstores, publishers, libraries, schools, and book lovers throughout Germany and around the world will celebrate a grand festival of reading. What once began as a regional tradition is now an international event: Since 1995, World Book Day has celebrated the joy of reading, the importance of books, and the rights of authors. This day was inspired by the Catalan custom of giving roses and books on the name day of the patron saint, St. George\u2014a symbol of love and culture. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll Give You a Story\u201d \u2013 Reading Promotion to Take Home: In 2026, children in 4th and 5th grades will once again receive the 2026 World Book Day book free of charge, with the aim of sparking a love of reading nationwide. The books are available at the Gronau City Library and the Epe Library. <\/p>\n
There\u2019s a special treat in store for our young (and older) guests: Storyteller Heike Koschnicke will whisk you away to magical worlds full of adventure, courage, and imagination. Let yourself be enchanted and look forward to an afternoon filled with enchanting stories! <\/p>\n
To celebrate World Book Day, there\u2019s a big library flea market in Gronau where books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs find new owners for just a few bucks.<\/p>\n
