6th Festival – Music & Culture of the Synagogue
The 6th “Music & Culture of the Synagogue” Festival, which will take place from May 24 to September 6, 2026, at several synagogues and memorial sites in Westphalia, will focus on Jewish choral music and combine readings, historical insights, encounters, and concerts.
Founded in 2008 by the Evangelical City Academy of Bochum, the festival is organized and directed by Dr. Manfred Keller, who aims to share the joy of Jewish culture while also promoting remembrance, dialogue, and understanding between Jewish and non-Jewish people.
On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the festival day in Gronau-Epe will feature, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a reading by Dmitrij Kapitelman from his novel *Russian Specialties*, a guided tour of Haus Lebenstein, and the concert “Songs of the Synagogue” featuring the ensemble “mendels töchter” and the BellaDonna women’s choir. The event marks the conclusion of this year’s series of events.
Admission is free; donations are welcome.
