Two radio worlds meet in a special 90-minute talk format: Janina Ribeiro, presenter at 1 Live and representative of a new radio generation, meets Thomas Steinberg, a real radio voice from the very beginning.

Under the title “The Story Behind…”, Thomas Steinberg opens up his personal archive full of musical moments, encounters and radio history. As one of 1Live’s first presenters, he was there when a new chapter of radio was opened in 1995 – fresh, loud, close to the attitude to life of an entire generation.

Today, he shapes the program of WDR 4 – and thus shares a biography that many listeners associate with him: the path from wild youth radio to the musical home of the 1980s and early 1990s. Along the way, Steinberg has met countless artists – from A-ha to The Zombies – and helped shape the radio landscape over three decades.

Janina Ribeiro represents the perspective of a generation that has grown up with completely different listening habits and experiences music and radio in a new way. Through her own experiences as a singer, she brings a fresh, personal approach to music – curious, open and with a keen sense for the emotions behind the songs and stories of earlier years.
