Small pin featuring the Gronau coat of arms. The coat of arms depicts a blue swan on a yellow wavy bar, accompanied by a yellow spool and a yellow ear of grain on a green border. The symbols and colors represent the two municipalities of Gronau and Epe. The swan alludes to Gronau’s former territorial affiliation with the dominion of the noble lords of Steinfurt; the green background is intended as a symbolic reference to the old name for Gronau, “Grüne Aue” (Green Meadow). The symbols “ear of wheat” and “spool” were adopted from the former coat of arms of the municipality of Epe. While the spool alludes to both municipalities’ close ties to the textile industry, the ear of wheat symbolizes the importance of agriculture.
