Important information from the Amtsvenn-Hündfelder Moor ❗❗❗

The Hündfelder Moor is no longer accessible with immediate effect. The closure serves to protect breeding birds and also ensures safety during planned construction work.

Why is the lockdown necessary? ⬇

As a valuable bird sanctuary, the Hündfelder Moor provides a protected habitat for rare and endangered species. The animals need undisturbed retreats, especially during the breeding season. In order not to disturb them, the area will remain closed for the time being during this sensitive phase – and beyond.
In addition, as part of the LIFE CrossBorderBog project, extensive construction work is being carried out outside the breeding season to rewet the raised bog The construction work will be carried out in 3 construction phases and is expected to be completed in 2029. The Biologische Station Zwillbrock e.V. warns of possible dangers in the affected construction site areas and asks that you respect the barriers.

Despite the closure – which will last at least until the rewetting measures have been completed – there is still the opportunity to explore the moor on guided hikes. Experience the area and learn more about the nature conservation project. Current information on events can be found at www.bszwillbrock.de/aktuelles-angebote/veranstaltungen.
