For decades, BERND STELTER has been one of the defining figures in the German entertainment scene. For over 35 years, he has been delighting his audiences as a cabaret artist, musician, author, and television host—with an unmistakable blend of humor, music, and subtle, thoughtful undertones.
His artistic roots lie in the Rhineland Carnival, where his career began in the late 1980s. He later gained nationwide recognition through radio and television programs, including as a long-time cast member of the cult show “7 Tage, 7 Köpfe.” BERND STELTER has also enjoyed great success as an author: In addition to humorous nonfiction books, he has published several novels—including his popular camping mysteries—which have made it onto the SPIEGEL bestseller list.
For many years, the stage has been at the center of his artistic work. He successfully tours throughout Germany with his solo shows—always striving not only to make his audience laugh but also to make them think. Music plays a special role in this: As a singer and multi-instrumentalist, BERND STELTER weaves stories and songs into deeply personal moments.
In his new show, “Sonne im Herzen, Blödsinn im Kopp!” (Sun in the Heart, Nonsense in the Head!), he puts this very musical side front and center. For BERND STELTER, songs are little miracles: in just a few minutes, they can tell stories, capture moods, and convey emotions—sometimes humorous, sometimes thoughtful, sometimes upbeat, sometimes melancholic.
He writes his songs the way other people keep a diary. They tell of what moves him: Was there sunshine in his heart? Or was there just a bit of nonsense in his head? Maybe both.
The song recital “Sun in the Heart, Nonsense in the Head!” brings it all together—a life in music, sometimes loud, sometimes soft, sometimes full of joie de vivre, and then thoughtful again. And in the end, it leaves you with exactly what a good evening should: After two hours full of laughter, dreams, singing along, and smiles, the audience goes home with a warm feeling.
