Gronau 2026 city festival

18. September - 20. September

From September 18 to 20, downtown Gronau will once again be transformed into a huge festival area. Look forward to three days filled with music, entertainment, shopping, culinary highlights, and a varied program for the whole family.

Following the redevelopment of the downtown area, the city festival is returning to the heart of Gronau, using the new squares and streets as a stage for a vibrant weekend. Whether it’s live music, a fashion show, children’s activities, classic cars, club presentations, or hands-on activities—there’s something to discover all day long at many different locations.

The city festival kicks off on Friday with Fair World Children’s Day at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz and a varied program for children and families.

Saturday is all about entertainment and experiences. Look forward to numerous activities in the city center, a major fashion show featuring Gronau retailers, performances by local clubs, live music, and plenty of culinary delights.

On Sunday, you can look forward to the popular classic car meet, followed by a drive through the city center, among other things. In addition, choirs, clubs, and other events will provide great entertainment. At the same time, stores are inviting you to enjoy a leisurely shopping trip during Sunday shopping hours.

You can find the full program here.

Together with Sparkasse Westmünsterland, we look forward to your visit!

Extensive program for children and families at the 2026 Gronau City Festival

From the Urenco electric train to hands-on activities and the Kids’ Mile: a weekend full of adventure, games, and fun for the little ones.

Children’s eyes sparkling with excitement, colorful hands-on activities, and plenty of fun and games: At this year’s Gronau City Festival 2026, the spotlight is firmly on the little ones. Gronau City Marketing has put together a colorful, varied program that will transform downtown Gronau into a paradise of play and discovery over several days.

Right from the start, as part of the Fair World Children’s Day celebrations at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz (“Kurti”), “The E-Train” will be making free rounds starting at 2:00 p.m., sure to set the hearts of young train fans racing. The train will also be running on the following days.

“Our goal was to organize a city festival where families could enjoy a few pleasant hours with free activities. With the kids’ zone, the bounce houses, our mascot, and more, we’ve made that happen—and above all, thanks to the support of Sparkasse Westmünsterland,” said Luana Dörken of Gronau City Marketing.

Saturday continues to be a colorful day: Starting at 10:00 a.m., the popular children’s flea market in the city center invites you to browse, haggle, and discover treasures. On the Kids’ Mile, Gronau’s friendly mascot “Türmchen” will put smiles on everyone’s faces and be on hand for souvenir photos. The iconic character Richie will also be visiting the city for a photo op, while right next to him, the Urenco bounce house invites kids to let off some steam.

If you’re in the mood for some exercise and prizes, MIG’s exciting hands-on activities and raffle are just the thing for you. Kids and teens who love to dance will also get their money’s worth: TV Gronau invites you to a Video Clip Dance with Gika (3:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m.) and will present spectacular choreographies, and TV Gronau’s Free Artisten will also be there. In addition, all young dancers can cheer on the Gronau Fools’ Guild and the show by the “Move and Shine” club. “A city festival thrives on participation and community. We’re very pleased that so many clubs are taking part again this year,” summarizes Elke Rinke (Stadtmarketing Gronau).

As the city festival continues, there are plenty of wonderful activities for families: In addition to the stilt walkers from the KuBiG event, dressed in their autumnal “leaves,” artist Pele will delight visitors in the city center with his whimsical balloon figures. Musical highlights, food stands, and sports activities make the weekend of September 18–20 the perfect destination for the whole family.

Admission to the Gronau City Festival is free. All program events can be found here and are updated regularly: https://gronau-inside.de/veranstaltung/stadtfest-gronau-2026
