Literature meeting on Monday: Siegfried Lenz

Siegfried Lenz was one of the best-known German writers of the post-war period and a contemporary of Heinrich Böll, Günter Grass and Uwe Johnson. With his most famous novel “Deutschstunde” (1968), he created a classic of German narrative art. With other works such as “So zärtlich war Suleyken” (1955) and “Arnes Nachlaß” (1999), Lenz sold millions of copies. He was born on March 17, 1926 in Lyck in East Prussia (now Poland) and died at the age of 88 on October 7, 2014 in Hamburg. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.
