Cejna Ezid” festival
The Ezidi community in Gronau would like to celebrate their religious festival “Cejna Ezid” together this year on 19.12.2025. “Cejna Ezid” is celebrated by the Ezidis as a large communal festival, similar to Christmas for Christians.
The actual “Cejna Ezid” festival is preceded by a period of fasting. After this fasting period, a big celebration with lots of delicacies, music and dancing is held with families and friends. It is important to the Yezidis to share their openness with everyone around them, regardless of their denomination, and to give them an insight into their culture. The focus here is also on a contemplative atmosphere and being together as a community. As it is customary for families to visit each other on this festive day, we want to offer all families the opportunity to have a designated place where they can meet and celebrate together.
Through other festivals celebrated together in the past, we have found that coming together is an important concern for families.
