Matters of the heart take center stage
17. October um 14:30 - 17:30
Heart care is the focus of the 26th Action Day 55 plus for senior citizens. The event is organized by the Kneipp Association, the city of Gronau’s elderly care coordinator and the cardiology department of St. Antonius Hospital. On Friday, 17 October from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., participants can look forward to a stimulating program in the Walter-Thiemann-Haus.
At 3.30 p.m., the head physician of internal medicine and cardiologist Dr. Alexander Samol will give a talk on the topic: “Heart matters”.
Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in the western world.” Many diseases can be stabilized or even prevented by personal lifestyle and actively influencing risk factors,” says Dr. Alexander Samol. Some diseases begin silently, such as high blood pressure, while others are highly symptomatic. We will explain in detail which diseases play a particular role here, how they can be recognized and subsequently treated. We also discuss ways in which you can help the doctor to make a diagnosis yourself, for example by using your own ECG or heart rate documentation. The most common risk factors for cardiovascular disease will also be presented in an understandable way and ways of reducing the risk will be discussed. In addition to high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, heart failure, common cardiac arrhythmias and valvular heart disease will be dealt with in a way that is understandable to laypeople. Afterwards, there will be ample opportunity for questions and personal discussion. ”
After the welcome and words of greeting, coffee will be served together from 2.30 p.m.
From 4.15 p.m., senior citizens will experience further insights and enjoyment with selected hands-on activities. There will be attractive offers to try out, such as forest bathing energy, dance cocktails and elements of relaxation.
The event will conclude with musical movement with exercise instructor Sandra Faria. The fee for Kneipp and IKK members is free, non-members pay 5 euros. For planning reasons, registration is required by October 15 by calling 02565-3528 or sending an email to kneippverein-gronau-epe@gmx.de.
